Visiting Rajgir
Drive towards Rajgir, located just 15 km from here. Rajgir is the city of Nalanda district in the state of Bihar, India. It was the first capital of Magadh Empire. Rajgir has been notable as Buddhist site as this was one of the favorite places of Gautam Buddha. There are number of Hot Springs. The hill town of Rajgir, surrounded by seven hills is in the midst of lush green forest. There are many more tourist attractions to visit such as the Bimbisar’s Jail, the Ajatshatru’s Fort, and the Jarasandh’s Akhara.
Visiting Pawapuri
If time permits, one can visit Pawapuri which is at a distance of 25 km from Nalanda. It is a significant pilgrimage center for Jainism because Lord Mahavira preached his last sermon took Mahaparinirvana. He was cremated here. Jal Mandir and Samosharan are worth seeing temples made of white marble.
