VARANASI – PRAYAGRAJ

Pick up from your hotel and proceed to Prayagraj formerly known as Allahabad. It is 130 km away from Varanasi and takes around 03 hours to reach up. Have breakfast en-route and enjoy day trip to Prayagraj.

ARRIVES PRYAGRAJ

Prayagraj City Tour

Prayagraj is one of the most significant as well as religious places in India. Though is world renowned for hosting the world’s largest religious congregation called Kumbh Fair, which is held here in every 12 year. Apart from this, are many more tourist attractions to watch out for.

Triveni Sangam

It is the confluence point of 3 Holy Rivers – Ganga, Yamuna and invisible Saraswati. Devotees come here in large numbers to bath or perform other Hindu rituals at Sangam during religious Hindu festivals. It is believed that a holy dip in the river washes away all your sins and wishes are granted. Maha Kumbh Mela or Fair is also held in Allahabad after every 12 years, which is a major Hindu festival.

Allahabad Fort 

Situated near the banks of Yamuna River, magnificent fort built by Munhall Emperor Akbar in 1583. It exhibits fine art and architecture, craftsmanship of the Fort. The Fort is presently under the custody of Indian army, Visitors are allowed to view the Ashoka Pillar, Saraswati Kup and Jodhabai Palace. Fort can be seen from the river side. One must take a prior permission from the Commandant to visit this fort.

Hanuman Temple 

Hanuman temple is situated near Allahabad Fort, dedicated to Lord Hanuman. It is very famous for image enshrined of the reclined position of monkey God Lord Hanuman.

Visit Anand Bhawan

 This is the ancestral property of Nehrus-Gandhi family. It is a must see place when you are in Allahabad. Anand Bhavan now converted into the museum, witnessed the era of independence. This is the place where all the important political meetings were held during the times of evidence. Memorable items belong to Nehru-Gandhi family are kept here for display. This place is closed on Monday.

Swaraj Bhawan 

Swaraj Bhavan is the place where former prime minister of India Mrs. Indira Gandhi was born, located next to the Anand Bhavan. 

Khusrau Bagh 

Beautiful garden houses the mausoleums of the great Mughal emperor Jahangir’s son and wife Shah Begum. This historic garden played an important role during the times of independence.

 

RETURN TO VARANASI

After finishing the sightseeing of Allahabad, drive back to Varanasi for overnight stay.
