Pick up from hotel and drive to Bodhgaya. It is one of the holiest places for Buddhist circuit. Bodhgaya is situated at a distance of 135 km from Patna. Have breakfast en-route and later continue drive towards Bodhgaya to enjoy day trip to Bodhgaya.

Bodhgaya Day Tour:

Bodhgaya is one of the most significant and sacred Buddhist centers in the world. It was here under the holy Banyan tree (the Bodhi tree) where Budha had attained enlightenment and became Budha from Sidhartha. Lord Buddha Images and a large Dharma Chakra, ‘Wheel of Law’. Sakya sect and Nyingma sect too have their representation in Bodhgaya. There are temples belonging to Nepal, Bhutan and China as well. There are various worth seeing temples and monasteries here to be watch out for.

Mahabodhi Temple:
Mahabodhi temple is the prime attraction of Bodhgaya, located close to the Bodhi tree. It is the holiest shrine of Buddhism. It was declared a UNESCO world heritage site in 2002. 170 ft high temple got Chatras on top of it symbolizing the sovereignty of religion. There is prodigious image of Lord Budha in the main sanctum of the temple at sitting posture symbolizing the posture of Budha attaining enlightenment under the Bodhi tree. You can see numerous stupas of all sizes in the temple courtyard built during the past 2500 years ago.

Animesh Lochan Chaitya:
It is believed that the Buddha spent one week here looking towards the great Bodhi tree out of gratitude, without twinkling his eyes.

Bodhi Tree:
It is basically a holy banyan tree. Lord Budha said to have achieved enlightenment under this tree. Present Bodhi tree is probably the fifth succession of the original tree.

Lunch at any good restaurant. After finishing with lunch ,drive to see Gaya, which is 13 km away from Bodhgaya.

Visiting Gaya

Gaya is a holy place for Hindusim and Buddhism. Gaya has several Ghats and temples lined on the banks of holy Phalgu river. Gaya derives its name from the mythological demon Gayasur The most popular temple today is Vishnupad Temple located along the Phalgu River, marked by a footprint of Vishnu incised into a block of basalt, that marks the act of Lord Vishnu subduing Gayasur by placing his foot on Gayasur’s chest. You can also visit Mangla Gauri Temple and Lord Shiva temple. Also Hindus use to come here to pay salvation to the souls of their ancestors.

RETURN TO PATNA

After finishing sightseeing , drive back to Patna.
