Day Trip to Lonavala

MUMBAI – LONAVALA

Pick up from Hotel in Mumbai and drive to Lonavala. Lonavala is around 90 km away from Mumbai and takes 3 hours to reach up this beautiful hill resort.

Enroute visit to Karla and Bhaja Caves:

Karla Caves:

These caves can be visited en-route while on trip to Lonavala. Both groups of caves are quite similar to each other in style but built in different era.Karla caves is a complex of cave shrines built by Buddhist monk in 2nd century BC and later on developed over the years up to 2nd century AD. These are Indian Buddhist rock-cut cave shrines being maintained and protected under Archaeological Survey of India. 
 
Bhaja Caves: 

Bhaja Caves, also an identical in architectural style are a group of rock-cut caves built in 200 BC. This groups of rock-cut caves are near to Karla Caves. Visiting these caves is worth spending some time en-route to Lonavala.  

Later proceed your journey to Lonavala. Enjoy the day free at leisure.  
 

Visiting Lonavala :

Lonavala is a beautiful hill station situated 90 km away from Mumbai on the Mumbai – Pune Expressway and well connected with other cities like Pune, Khopoli and Karjat. Lonavala is jewel of Sahyadri hills provides a great escape from the busy life of city like Mumbai. Pearl green hills, crystal clear waterfalls and ponds can be seen during monsoon. Tourists flock here in Monsson period the most. Lonavala turns lush green with crystal clear waterfalls during monsoon season. Lush green surroundings, peaceful environs and an amazing spots like Buddhist rock cut caves make Lonavala a wonderful weekend getaway from Mumbai. One can also visit Lonavala lake and Bhusi Lake on day trip to Lonavala. 

Lonavala Lake: 

 Beautiful Lake in the area is also an attraction to the tourist. Lonavala Lake is visited the most in monsoon season as it dries up during winters. Lake is surrounded by serene natural beauty making this place more attractive.

Bhusi Dam: 

Bhusi Dam is one of the famous tourist spot near Lonavala. One can not miss to see this spot when it gets water over flown through stony terrain between June to September. It is a fantastic place to visit when you are in Lonavala.

RETURN TO MUMBAI

After finishing a day trip to Lonawala, drive back to Mumbai. Upon arrival, drop at hotel.
