Enroute visit to Karla and Bhaja Caves:

Karla Caves:

These caves can be visited en-route while on trip to Khandala. Both groups of caves are quite similar to each other in style but built in different era.Karla caves is a complex of cave shrines built by Buddhist monk in 2nd century BC and later on developed over the years up to 2nd century AD. These are Indian Buddhist rock-cut cave shrines being maintained and protected under Archaeological Survey of India.

Bhaja Caves: 

Bhaja Caves, also an identical in architectural style are a group of rock-cut caves built in 200 BC. These groups of rock-cut caves are near to Karla Caves. Visiting these caves is worth spending some time en-route to Khandala.

Later proceed towards Khandala to enjoy its abundant natural beauty.

Visiting Khandala: 

Khandala can be clubbed with Lonavala in a same day trip from Mumbai. Khandala is just 3 km away from Lonavala. There are many trains available from Mumbai to get Khandala or otherwise one can get down at Lonavala and then visit Khandala. Nearest airport is Pune, which is 66 km away from Khandala. Khandala is situated at a distance of 110 km from Mumbai and 66 km away from Pune. Khandala is wonderful hill station near Mumbai, has become the first choice for people who seek weekend escape from Mumbai or for those who love to enjoy an enchanting beauty of hills located on the western slopes of Sahyadris Mountains. 

It is also a weekend spot for people come from Pune. It lies off to Mumbai to Pune highway. Places to visit in Khandala 

Bhushi Dam:

Bhusi Dam is one of the famous tourist spot near Khandala. One can not miss to see this spot when it gets water over flown through stony terrain between June to September. It is a fantastic place to visit when you are in Khandala.

Dukes Nose: 

Dukes nose is a popular tourist spot near Khandala, also known as Nagfani. Though it seems inaccessible but trekking is the best way to get this spot. Get the panoramic view of Khandala surrounded by Sahyadri peaks and Mumbai to Pune highway from top. It is named after Duke Wellington, who had a nose resembling the cliff.

Tigers Leap: 

Tigers leap is actually a cliff-top, which offers a fantastic view of valley. It seems that tiger is leaping into the valley when you carefully observe this. There is a small waterfall nearby but it is filled during monsoon season only. One can also visit this waterfall around Tigers leap.

RETURN TO MUMBAI

After sightseeing of Khandala, drive back to Mumbai. Upon arrival, drop at hotel.
