Kovalam Beach:

Kovalam is famous for its beaches located 16 km away from Trivandrum city. Beaches are the main attractions here. It is world renowned beach has three crescent shaped beaches separated by rocky outcroppings. Kovalam visit is must visit and it is highly recommended to stay in Kovalam when you are in Trivandrum. Kovalam is extremely popular among westerners due to shallow waters and low tidal waves. Foreign tourists come here during winter season mostly in November and December. 

Kovalam has 3 beaches in its 17 km coastline. Lighthouse Beach is the most famous of all three. Many hotels, restaurants, lodges and shops are located here. It is frequented by outsiders who stay and enjoy Kovalam.

Lighthouse Beach:

It is named after its 35 meter high lighthouse that towers over it atop Kurumkal hillock. It is the largest beach of Kovalam. Most of the tourists prefer to stay in this beach as it is more developed. 

Hawah Beach:

It is adjacent beach to Lighthouse beach and the second largest beach of Kovalam. With a high rock promontory and a calm bay of blue waters, this beach paradise creates a unique aquarelle on moonlit nights. 

Samudra Beach: Samudra beach is not a leisure beach. The local fishermen ply their trade on this Beach. 

Popular activities:

Surfing – Surfing can be enjoyed by anyone. Tourists use to hire surf boards and body boards to enjoy the activities on the beach. 

Wooden & Motor Boat Ride:

The best time for going snorkeling from the boat is in the early morning. Most romantic are the “sunset cruises”. 

Shopping: 

There are numerous shops lined by the Kovalam sea beach where one can get quality souvenirs. When you walk up the hills from beach, there are more shops and supermarket as all.
